Before you buy anything: what is actually true at University of South Florida
A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are University of South Florida’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.
Room size and rugs
Rooms run from 80 sq ft (Apartment Style) up to 95 sq ft (Suite Style). At the small end a 4×6 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Bed and bedding
Twin XL everywhere except a genuine contradiction at Beta Hall and Castor Hall: USF’s FAQ says those two have standard Twin beds while their own hall pages say Twin XL. Confirm with Housing before buying. Lofting is limited to Greek Village, Juniper, Poplar and The Village, where beds raise to 60 in Do not buy Twin XL sheets here.
Fridge and microwave
Bring your own or rent through USF’s own program at $100 to $150 per term — a 2.13 cubic foot fridge with a 0.75 cubic foot freezer and a 700-watt microwave, installed by Housing staff. Personal caps: refrigerators not exceeding 4.5 cubic feet and microwaves under 1,000 watts. Unnecessary in the fou Anything over 4.5 cu ft will be sent home.
Already in your room
Do not pack duplicates of these: A bed, dresser, desk, chair, trash can and closet for each resident, with an in-room ethernet connection plus building-wide Wi-Fi averaging 250Mbps. USF has an unusual rule: several items may be owned but not run. Storage only, unplugged, no cooking — toasters, George Foreman grills, hot plates, roasters, popcorn poppers, air fryers, and Instant Pots or similar electric pressure cookers. Permitted: microwaves under 1,000 watt
