Room dimensions are only half the story — here is what Boise State actually charges to live on campus, what shows up in the room before you unpack, and the appliance rules that decide what you can bring.
Heads up — this school breaks the usual rules
- These beds are NOT Twin XL. Most Boise State halls use a standard twin — Chaffee and Taylor are 75×38, Keiser and University Suites are 73×37.5. Twin XL sheets will not fit properly.
- Two buildings are bigger, not smaller. Lincoln Townhomes uses a Full (80×52) and The Osprey uses a Full XL (79×52.5).
- Fridges are capped at 3.2 cubic feet and microwaves at 700–800 watts — smaller than most "dorm size" units sold online. Housing rents MicroFridge units, and The Osprey already includes a fridge.
Buying the standard college checklist here will waste money — check your building first.
Bed size: Standard TWIN, not Twin XL — this is the biggest packing mistake at Boise State. Chaffee and Taylor use 75x38; Keiser and University Suites use 73x37.5. Exceptions: Lincoln Townhomes is Full (80x52) and The Osprey is Full XL (79x52.5). Confirm your hall before buying sheets.

Who has to live on campusNo live-on requirement — Policy 2110 sets only eligibility (admitted and full-time: 12 credits undergrad, 9 graduate). First-years who do live in the halls must have a weekly meal plan. Room rates above exclude the $5,970 meal plan.
What's already in the roomBed and mattress, desk, closet and dresser (Chaffee adds cabinets and a nightstand); bed heights adjustable, commonly set at 36 inches. Furnished lounges, WiFi and laundry in building. Suite and apartment halls add a furnished living room, in-unit kitchen and laundry.
Fridge & microwave rulesBring or rent — not provided in most halls. Personal mini-fridges capped at 3.2 cubic feet; microwaves must be 700-800 watts. Boise State Housing rents MicroFridge units. The Osprey is the exception and includes a refrigerator.
Leave these at homeAnything with an open flame — candles, incense, burners — plus halogen lamps, space heaters, air fryers, weapons, and appliances with exposed heating elements such as toasters and toaster ovens (allowed only in units with a full kitchen). Pets are prohibited.
