On-campus housing: 2026-27 rates & what's included

Room dimensions are only half the story — here is what Mississippi College actually charges to live on campus, what shows up in the room before you unpack, and the appliance rules that decide what you can bring.

Heads up — this school breaks the usual rules

  • Personal microwaves are banned outright. The only in-room microwave allowed is a combination MicroFridge unit rented or bought through the school’s supplier.
  • One fridge per room, and it must be under 3 feet tall.
  • Also banned even with auto shut-off: hot plates, air fryers, electric skillets, Instant Pots, toasters, toaster ovens, rice cookers and George Foreman-style grills.

Buying the standard college checklist here will waste money — check your building first.

Bed size: Twin XL — Residence Life states mattresses are 80 inches long, are considered extra-long, and that XL twin sheets fit best.

Who has to live on campusScholarship-linked residency: single, dependent, full-time undergraduates under 22 must live in a campus residence hall to keep 100% of their institutional scholarships — moving off campus without written approval cuts the award to the commuter rate. Exemptions require a written petition; verbal permission does not count. Note the school became Mississippi Christian University in June 2026.
What's already in the roomTwo single beds that can be bunked, two desks with chairs, and two chests of drawers, all oak and required to stay in the room. Published sizes: beds 80 inches long; desks 30H x 42L x 24W; dressers 45H x 30L x 18W. Mary Nelson, Ratliff and Chrestman have in-room sinks; Hederman and Gunter have individual AC units.

Leave these at homePersonal microwaves are banned outright. Also prohibited: hot plates, air fryers, electric skillets, Instant Pots, toasters, toaster ovens, rice cookers and George Foreman-style grills — even models with auto shut-off.
