Before you buy anything: what is actually true at University of North Carolina Wilmington

A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are University of North Carolina Wilmington’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.

Room size and rugs

Rooms run from 94 sq ft (Seahawk Village) up to 432 sq ft (Cornerstone Hall). At the small end a 4×6 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.

Bed and bedding

Not uniform โ€” two different sizes on the same campus. Most halls use an extra-long twin published as 36" x 80" x 7" โ€” note the 36" width and the deep 7" mattress. FULL beds at 53" x 80" are used in Seahawk Village, Seahawk Landing, and the SINGLE rooms in Terrapin and Loggerhead. The twins are lofta Measure before buying bedding — this campus is not a standard 38×80.

Fridge and microwave

Bring your own, with a rental option. Refrigerators may not be larger than 4.9 cubic feet, and personal microwaves are permitted but must be under 700 watts โ€” a genuinely restrictive number, since many common dorm microwaves are 700W or 900W and would not comply. A rental is available through UNCWโ€™s Anything over 4.9 cu ft will be sent home.

Already in your room

Do not pack duplicates of these: Every space includes XL twin beds, desks, chairs, dressers and either closets or wardrobes; Terrapin and Loggerhead add a mobile pedestal.
