Room size and rugs
Rooms measure about 273 sq ft (B.E.S.T Neighborhood). At the small end a 8×10 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Bed and bedding
Twin extra-long in the residence halls and most apartments — “a twin extra-long bed frame and mattress.” Exception: Sojourner Truth Apartments provide a full/double size bed. Rutgers publishes size names only, never dimensions in inches, so the exact width is not stated anywhere.
Fridge and microwave
Provided by the university at no extra charge, and personal units are banned: “refrigerators not owned by the University” are prohibited without an approved medical need. In expanded housing Rutgers supplies a micro-fridge for every two people. Microwaves are separately banned outside the apartments Do not buy a fridge for this campus.
Already in your room
Do not pack duplicates of these: A closet or wardrobe, dresser, desk, chair, drapes or blinds, carpeting or tile, a micro-fridge, and high-speed internet.
