University of Oregon Dorm Packing List

Everything worth bringing to your University of Oregon dorm — organized by category, checkable, and printable. Before you pack, check your exact room size and lay the room out free so everything you buy actually fits.

🗓️ Move-in season: most residence halls open in early-to-mid August. Check your housing portal for your exact date and any restricted-item rules before buying appliances.

What is actually true at Oregon

Oregon publishes a width for every hall, and it is not the one most bedding is sold against. Two of its halls are ordinary twins, one is a Double, and microwaves are banned everywhere.

Bed and bedding

Oregon publishes 36 inches wide for every hall. More importantly, Carson and Earl are regular twins at 75×36 — a Twin XL sheet is too long and a regular twin sheet is too wide. Yasui is a Double. Check your hall before you buy a single sheet.

Fridge and microwave

Microwaves are banned in every dorm room at Oregon, without exception. A fridge is the only one of the pair worth bringing.

Meal plan

The meal plan is bundled into the room rate rather than billed separately, so comparing Oregon rates against other universities line by line will mislead you unless you account for it.

Already in your room

Standard bed, desk and chair. Note that Hamilton, Walton and Barnhart have been demolished — if a guide or forum post mentions them, it is out of date.

Leave these at home

Microwaves, and any bedding bought before you know your hall. Oregon does not state anywhere whether its halls have air conditioning, so ask rather than assume.
