Before you buy anything: what is actually true at Bucknell University

A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Bucknell University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.

Room size and rugs

Rooms measure about 160 sq ft (First-year Housing). At the small end a 6×9 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.

Bed and bedding

Twin XL — Bucknell’s what-to-bring page directs students to bring twin-size extra-long sheets. No hall is published as using a different size, though individual hall pages could not be verified. One genuine oddity: Bucknell promotes a mattress topper rental through Eepy that increases the bed’s widt Do not buy Twin XL sheets here.

Fridge and microwave

Bring your own or rent through Campus Specialties — Bucknell does not provide them for first-year and sophomore singles and doubles, and students must coordinate with roommates. Do not pack duplicates of these: Rate levels “vary based on amenities like air conditioning and apartment-style features,” which means not all rooms have air conditioning — the AC rooms simply cost more.
