Before you buy anything: what is actually true at Duquesne University

A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Duquesne University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.

Room size and rugs

Rooms measure about 173 sq ft (Duquesne Towers). At the small end a 6×9 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.

Bed and bedding

Twin XL, but read the dimensions carefully. Towers, Des Places and St. Ann all state “Twin XL (extra-long), 3' wide and 6" thick” — that is 36 inches wide, not the 38-inch industry standard, on an unusually thin 6-inch mattress. Assumption and Vickroy use the same page template and almost certainly Measure before buying bedding — this campus is not a standard 38×80.

Fridge and microwave

Bring your own — not provided and not described as rentable. ⚠ Duquesne contradicts itself on the size cap within a single document: the cooking section says refrigerators must be “smaller than 3.5 cubic feet” while the prohibited-items list bans anything “larger than 3.2 cubic feet capacity.” A fri Anything over 3.5 cu ft will be sent home.
