Before you buy anything: what is actually true at Texas Tech University
A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Texas Tech University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.
Room size and rugs
Rooms measure about 944 sq ft (Honors Hall). At the small end a 8×10 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Bed and bedding
Not uniform — Texas Tech publishes frame dimensions rather than size labels. Most halls are 39" x 80". Hulen, Clement, Wall and Gates are 39" x 76" — four inches shorter than Twin XL. The Honors hall is the only true 38" x 80". West Village B is full-size: 53" x 80" in the one-bedroom and 58" x 80" Measure before buying bedding — this campus is not a standard 38×80.
Fridge and microwave
Bring your own or rent — nothing is provided in the traditional halls, and the dimensions page explicitly notes “no refrigerator or microwave provided” for Gordon, Murray and Talkington. Caps: refrigerator maximum 3.7 cubic feet operating at 120 volts and 60 hertz, and microwave 1,500 watts or less. Anything over 3.7 cu ft will be sent home.
Already in your room
