Elevate My DormEverything worth bringing to your Troy University dorm — organized by category, checkable, and printable. Before you pack, check your exact room size and lay the room out free so everything you buy actually fits.
A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Troy University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.
Rooms run from 168 sq ft (Newman Center (Coed)) up to 600 sq ft (University Apts (Coed)). At the small end a 6×9 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Not uniform, and unusually messy. Rushing Hall is full size. Clements, Cowart and Pace are a mix of regular twin and XL twin within the same building. Newman Center and the Honors Cottage are XL twin; Trojan Village and Dial are “long twin.” Shackelford is not published. Troy’s move-in guide refuses Measure before buying bedding — this campus is not a standard 38×80.
Bring your own, within an unusually tight window: 1.7 to 2.4 cubic feet for the fridge and 600 to 800 watts for the microwave. The 2.4 cubic foot ceiling rules out most back-to-school “dorm fridges.” Skip it entirely in Pace Hall, Trojan Village and the Honors Cottage. Anything over 2.4 cu ft will be sent home.
Do not pack duplicates of these: Beds, desks and chests of drawers; Cowart adds wardrobe closet space. Rooms are carpeted and air conditioned with movable furniture. Rushing Hall adds a small bookcase and a wall-mounted TV. Pace Hall rooms include a stove and refrigerator, Trojan Village units have a kitchenette
No air fryers. No Instant Pots. No toasters. No hot plates or any cooking equipment with an open heating element. No extension cords. No candles or incense, no halogen lamps. No 3M Command Strips, no adhesives, nails, screws, stickers, duct tape, wallpaper, carpet tape or contact
