Before you buy anything: what is actually true at UC Davis

A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are UC Davis’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.

Room size and rugs

Rooms run from 165 sq ft (Campbell Hall) up to 225 sq ft (Tahoe Hall). At the small end a 6×9 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.

Bed and bedding

36" x 80" x 8", uniform campus-wide β€” β€œall beds are extra-long twin size, measuring 36" x 80" x 8",” confirmed on two separate UC Davis furniture pages. That is two inches narrower than a standard Twin XL, and the 8" thickness is thin, so avoid deep-pocket sheets. The Green at West Village does not Do not buy Twin XL sheets here.

Fridge and microwave

Provided free in every residence hall room β€” do not buy one. A MicroFridge is included and shared between roommates, and additional fridges and microwaves are banned without authorisation. No cubic-foot or wattage cap applies to the halls because you cannot bring one. The caps that do exist apply on Do not buy a fridge for this campus.

Already in your room

Do not pack duplicates of these: A bed, dresser or built-in chest of drawers, closet or wardrobe, desk, desk chair and a desk lamp per student, plus a MicroFridge, wastebasket and recycling bin shared per room.
