Before you buy anything: what is actually true at Fairfield University
A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Fairfield University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.
Room size and rugs
Rooms run from 84 sq ft (Jogues Hall) up to 180 sq ft (Loyola Hall). At the small end a 4×6 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Bed and bedding
Twin XL. Every hall page publishes an identical frame spec with nine height settings. Fairfield’s FAQ hedges that “almost all beds have extra-long mattresses,” but names no exception anywhere on its site — treat Twin XL as correct.
Fridge and microwave
Provided — and personal units are banned. The University supplies a combination microwave and refrigerator, and “no other refrigerators or microwaves are permitted without permission.” There is no size or wattage cap to shop against because you should buy neither. The apartments and townhouses have Do not buy a fridge for this campus.
Already in your room
Do not pack duplicates of these: A Twin XL bed and mattress, desk, desk chair, wardrobe or closet, three-drawer dresser and campus Wi-Fi — plus a micro-fridge and window coverings already installed. Laundry runs on an allowance of roughly two wash and dry cycles per week, with extras purchasable via StagBucks. C
