What is actually true at Wayne State
Wayne State is one of the few universities in the country that publishes exact mattress dimensions for every building — and once you read them, you find that no two halls match. Do not buy bedding until you know your building.
Bed and bedding
Every hall is a different size. Ghafari and Atchison are 35×81, the Towers 35.5×85, and Chatsworth is 34×74 — shorter than an ordinary twin, let alone a Twin XL. The AWD apartments are a 54×75 Full. Thompson Suites are not published at all. A standard Twin XL sheet set fits almost none of these properly.
Fridge and microwave
Wayne State never states whether a fridge is supplied in the residence halls. That is a genuine gap in their published information, not an oversight in ours — ring housing before you buy or skip one.
Getting around
Wayne State abolished its campus shuttles entirely. In their place students get free DART passes covering DDOT, SMART and the QLINE, plus free MoGo bikeshare. Budget nothing for transit and nothing for parking you will not use.
Measure before you buy
Because the bed differs by building, so does everything that touches it — mattress topper, fitted sheet, bed risers, under-bed storage. Confirm your building assignment first, then buy once.
Leave these at home
Anything sized for a standard Twin XL on the assumption that all dorm beds match. At Wayne State that assumption is wrong in four buildings out of five.
