What Rowan housing actually costs
Heads up — this school breaks the usual rules
- Rowan bans air conditioners of every kind, with no exceptions — window units included. Fans only, in every building.
- Bunk beds and lofted beds are neither permitted nor offered — except in rare temporary cases. Under-bed clearance maxes out at 32 inches.
- Traditional halls supply a MicroFridge and ban personal fridges and microwaves — its capacity is never published. Apartments and Nexus units have a full fridge, freezer and stove but no microwave at all.
- Extension cords, adhesive-mount string lights, nails, screws and double-sided tape are all banned — wall décor is capped at 50% of the wall surface.
- Breaking the live-on rule can escalate to suspension — the penalty is a forced move-in plus a full semester’s room rent, with registration holds.
Buying the standard college checklist here will waste money — check your building first.

Fridge & microwave rules
Rowan publishes an exact bed size — Twin XL, 80 inches long by 36 wide by 36 high, identical in every building including Holly Pointe. On appliances, traditional halls are supplied with a MicroFridge at no listed rental fee, and personal fridges and microwaves are banned there; its exact capacity is not published. Apartments and Nexus units have a full fridge, freezer and stove but no microwave, so that is the one thing to buy for those.
What you cannot bring
Alcohol unless every roommate is 21 or over, amplified instruments, candles, lanterns and oil lamps, dartboards, extension cords (breaker-protected power strips are fine), multi-plug adapters, grills, hoverboards, space heaters, weapons, fireworks, adhesive-mount string lights, nails, screws and double-sided tape, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners of any kind with no exceptions. Air fryers are apartment-only. Wall décor is capped at 50% of the wall surface. Fish tanks up to 10 gallons are confirmed allowed; the broader pet policy is not published.
Who has to live on campus
Full-time unmarried undergraduates under 21 with fewer than 58 credits must live on campus. Exemptions cover students commuting from a parent or guardian home within 40 miles, students who turn 21 by the start of term, married students or those in a domestic partnership, students with 58 or more credits, those who have already spent four semesters on campus, and students enrolled at least half online. The penalty is a forced move-in plus a full semester’s room rent, with registration holds; refusal can lead to suspension.
