What on-campus housing costs at Pace

Heads up — this school breaks the usual rules

  • A 4.5 cubic foot MicroFridge with a refrigerator, freezer AND microwave is already in the room. Buying one is the single most expensive wasted purchase here, and Pace forbids bringing a duplicate of anything it provides.
  • The mattress is 78", not 80" — Pace calls it “extra-long twin” anyway and says regular twin sheets usually fit too. ⚠ Pace’s 15 Beekman page claims 80", contradicting its own FAQ and packing list. Buy fitted Twin XL sheets, but avoid exact-fit encasements and toppers.
  • Bed risers (“bed lifts”) are banned, as is essentially all outside furniture — including bringing your own desk chair.
  • Regular extension cords are banned; students are limited to two surge protectors each. Air fryers are explicitly banned, along with hot plates, toaster ovens and countertop grills.
  • 15 Beekman needs a 78" x 54" shower curtain — a size you will not find in a standard back-to-school aisle.
  • ⚠ Pace contradicts itself on Maria’s Tower: its packing PDF says no fridge or microwave is included there, while the hall page says a 4.5 cubic foot MicroFridge is included per room. Confirm before buying or renting.

Buying the standard college checklist here will waste money — check your building first.

Bed size: 78" x 36", which Pace itself labels “extra-long twin” even though the national Twin XL standard is 80". Pace says these “will fit extra-long twin sheets, but also accommodate (in most cases) standard twin bed sheets.” ⚠ The 15 Beekman page states 80" instead, contradicting the FAQ, the packing list and two other hall pages.

Pace publishes per bed, per semester — double every number for an academic year. Meal plans are not bundled into these room rates, and Pace notes all rates are subject to change. Winter break housing is a separate $1,200 flat fee. Note that 55 John Street appears in the 2025-26 rate list but is absent from the published 2026-27 table. Rates compiled from the university’s published housing rates, August 2026. Always confirm on the official rates page.

Who has to live on campus

Pace publishes no residency mandate on any of its housing pages. Its New Students page frames housing as a guarantee rather than a requirement — newly admitted students who submit a housing deposit by 1 May are fully guaranteed placement. Whether any first-year live-on requirement exists is not published.

What the room already includes

Each resident gets a bed, desk, dresser, wardrobe and desk chair. Ethernet plus campus wireless is in all halls, and window shades are pre-installed. Laundry is free and unlimited at 182 Broadway, Maria’s Tower and 33 Beekman — 55 John Street is the exception, where residents pay an additional laundry fee. Bathrooms are private or room-connected everywhere except Maria’s Tower, which uses corridor-style single-user restrooms. No hall has an in-room kitchen, though 182 Broadway, Maria’s Tower and 15 Beekman have shared kitchens. Air conditioning is not stated on any hall page.

Fridge & microwave rules

Already provided — do not buy one. 182 Broadway, Maria’s Tower and 33 Beekman each include one 4.5 cubic foot MicroFridge per room with a refrigerator, freezer and microwave; 15 Beekman includes a microwave and refrigerator in each suite. Pace is explicit that “if an item is ‘provided’, students are not permitted to bring another of that item.” Supplemental fridges are capped at 4.3 cubic feet and allowed only in suites of seven or more. ⚠ Pace’s packing PDF contradicts the Maria’s Tower hall page on whether a unit is included there.

What you cannot bring

Cooking appliances including hot plates, toaster ovens and any heating unit with an open flame; countertop grills such as a Foreman grill; air fryers; electric or kerosene heaters and anything running on combustible fuel; halogen lamps; incense and candles; hookahs; bed lifts; most outside furniture including desk chairs, futons, love seats and beanbag chairs; sound amplification equipment; pepper spray; wireless routers and third-party networking devices; hoverboards and electric bikes or scooters; weapons and knives. Regular extension cords are not permitted — students are limited to two surge protector cords each. Wall hangings are allowed but must use mounting systems that leave no residue. Coffee makers are permitted only with automatic shut-off. Pets: fish in tanks of 10 gallons or less. All halls are smoke- and vape-free.
