What is actually true at Kent State

Kent State publishes a clear bed size, supplies a fridge, and bans a surprising amount of what students normally pack — including, in halls with no air conditioning, any way of cooling the room.

Bed and bedding

Kent State states 36×80 on its official pages. That is Twin XL length but wider than the 38-inch assumption most bedding is sold against, so check the fitted-sheet dimensions rather than trusting the label.

Fridge and microwave

A MicroFridge is supplied, and personal fridges and microwaves are banned as a result. Buying one is money wasted and it will not be allowed in the room.

Air conditioning

Window and portable air conditioners are banned even in halls that have no air conditioning at all. Verder had none until portable units were finally brought in during 2025, after rooms reached roughly 90°F; a full retrofit was rejected on cost. Kent State does not publish a hall-by-hall AC list, so ask which category your building falls into.

Already in your room

The supplied MicroFridge, plus the standard bed, desk and chair. Plan your storage around what is already there rather than duplicating it.

Leave these at home

Personal fridges, microwaves and any air conditioner. Failing to comply with the live-on requirement places a hold on your registration, so sort your housing paperwork before term.
