Bucknell University Off-Campus Housing Guide (2026)

Bucknell expects four years on campus: only a limited number of rising seniors with clean conduct records get approval to live off campus through Housing Services.

How it actually works

Approved seniors rent conventional unfurnished houses and small apartments from local landlords in downtown Lewisburg — S 6th, S 7th, St. Catherine, St. Louis, and Market Streets, all about a half-mile walk to campus.

There are no purpose-built student complexes, and Lewisburg borough caps unrelated tenants at three per house, so the desirable houses near Market St are scarce — students start looking in junior year, and Greek members must fill chapter housing first. If you're hoping to live off campus senior year, the permission process through Housing Services comes before any lease.

What you'll need

Lewisburg houses are unfurnished — budget for the big anchors: mattress, bed frame, sofa, and a table, split three ways.
