Before you buy anything: what is actually true at Villanova University
A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Villanova University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.
Room size and rugs
Rooms run from 88 sq ft (FARLEY HALL) up to 191 sq ft (KLEKOTKA HALL). At the small end a 4×6 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Bed and bedding
36" x 80" x 7" campus-wide — “beds in all residence halls have extra-long twin mattresses, which measure 36 x 80 x 7.” The 80" length is standard Twin XL, but 36" wide is narrower than the 38–39" of a true Twin XL, so fitted sheets will run wide. No exception hall is named. Do not buy Twin XL sheets here.
Fridge and microwave
Bring your own or rent a MicroFridge through Campus Specialties. The cap is unusual: one 5-cubic-foot unit per residence hall ROOM, not per student, and “only one MicroFridge or refrigerator/microwave per room is permitted.” Roommates must coordinate or one unit gets removed. Do not pack duplicates of these: Traditional halls are furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, desk chair and closet per resident. The rate covers utilities and wireless internet, and laundry is free — washers and dryers are available at no additional cost. Apartment-style housing is a different purchase entirely:
Leave these at home
Hot plates, induction cooktops, space heaters and any appliance with an open heating element. ⚠ Villanova contradicts itself on toaster ovens — the Student Handbook permits them in the apartments but not the traditional halls, while the Residence Life what-not-to-bring list bans
