Before you buy anything: what is actually true at Clemson University
A generic college checklist will cost you money here. These are Clemson University’s own published room measurements and rules — check them before you order.
Room size and rugs
Rooms run from 104 sq ft (Douthit Hills West) up to 210 sq ft (Calhoun Courts). At the small end a 4×6 rug is the largest that leaves walking room — measure before ordering anything bigger.
Bed and bedding
Mostly Twin XL — but the West Neighborhood of Douthit Hills uses full-size beds (54" x 75") and needs full sheets. Douthit Hills East is a separate building and is Twin XL. Everything else — the Quad, Bryan Mall, the Shoeboxes, Cribb/DesChamps, Holmes/McCabe/Mickel, Calhoun Courts, Lightsey Bridge a Measure before buying bedding — this campus is not a standard 38×80.
Fridge and microwave
Bring your own, but capped at 3.6 cubic feet — smaller than most retail “dorm fridges.” Microwaves are effectively banned outside the apartments: the MicroFridge is the only allowed microwave in non-apartment residence halls, rentable through Collegiate Concepts and delivered before move-in. Unneces Anything over 3.6 cu ft will be sent home.
Already in your room
Do not pack duplicates of these: A bed, an individual desk and chair, and a chest of drawers per resident, plus closet space — note that many halls use open closets rather than doored ones — and venetian blinds.
