Where students live
UCCS students who move off campus stay tightly clustered along N Nevada Ave and Austin Bluffs Pkwy on the west and north edges of campus — Pulpit Rock, University Village and Rockrimmon — where purpose-built student housing and older garden apartments sit within about two miles. Campus parking is limited, so several communities run their own shuttles or sit on Mountain Metro routes.

How it compares to a dorm
The cheapest on-campus option is an Alpine Village Apartment at $5,700 a semester for a private bedroom in a four-bedroom — and unlike the suites, no meal plan is forced. Every suite rate above it bundles a 300-block or 150-block meal plan, so a $7,405 suite is not a $7,405 rent. Off campus, West Edge and Lion Village start around $449–$499 a bed with utilities included, which is why the sophomore move-out is close to automatic here.
What you'll need
West Edge, Lion Village and 11 West come furnished, so you are shopping soft goods: bedding, towels, kitchenware, storage and a shower caddy. The Lodges charges about $25 a month for furniture as an add-on — price that against buying your own. The N Nevada garden apartments are unfurnished, so budget for the anchors: mattress, bed frame, sofa and a table. Colorado Springs sits at 6,000 feet and runs dry, so a humidifier is a real purchase here, not a luxury.
