Fairfield University Off-Campus Housing Guide (2026)

Housing is guaranteed and most students stay on campus until senior year — then 'the beach' takes over.

Where students live

Fairfield Beach Road, Lantern Point, and the Reef Road area, about 2–3 miles from campus on Long Island Sound.

No purpose-built student complexes — seniors rent privately owned beach houses, usually furnished, on 9-month academic-year leases (groups of up to 4; town rules cap unrelated tenants). Demand is intense: houses are commonly locked in two or three years ahead. High-end houses run to ~$5,000/person. Don't sign anything before Residence Life releases you.
